Carrie L. Lewis has been painting and drawing for over 50 years. Her interest in art began very early, with parents providing crayons and paper. She sold her first horse portrait at the age of seventeen and created beautifully detailed portraits of horses for clients (in both oil and colored pencil) all over the United States and in Canada for over forty years. She still accepts special portrait commissions.
In 2015, Carrie’s focus shifted from portrait work to teaching colored pencils through her blog. She also publishes the monthly e-zine for colored pencil artists, CP Magic, and in 2020, she began teaching workshops for other colored pencil enthusiasts.
Her landscape art is energized by memories of growing up in Central Michigan, trips through the Flint Hills and other regions of Kansas, and travels to other states. There is personal significance to every landscape she draws, whether she’s drawing the vastness of the Flint Hills, the sometimes turbulent weather of both Michigan and Kansas, or focusing on a single tree or hill.
