Description of Grove
I usually draw with the pencil or pen held in a normal handwriting grip. That gives me good control of the pencil, and allows me to draw intricate detail.
But when I drew Grove, I decided to use the side of the pencil and let the lightness or darkness of the strokes create a sense of depth and distance.
The resulting sketch is less detailed that my usual work, but it gives me the sense of standing at the edge of a forest looking in through the trees. What about you?
The paper is 146lb Bristol Vellum.
The pencil is Prismacolor Premier Copenhagen Blue.
